C.A. Technologies was founded in 1997 in Louisville, Colorado and the name tells you exactly what the company is about. C.A. stands for Coating Atomization. Not spray equipment in general, not fluid handling broadly but atomization specifically, and the way atomization quality determines finish quality. That narrow focus, held consistently since day one, is why cabinet shops, custom wood finishers, furniture manufacturers, and aerospace coating operations across the country have made CAT guns their first choice for fine finish work.

In 2015, Wagner Group - the global finishing equipment manufacturer that also owns Titan Tool and Walther Spray - acquired C.A. Technologies, recognizing it as a complementary fit for their industrial liquid coating portfolio. The company has remained in Louisville, Colorado, and the guns are still American-made. What changed is the backing: C.A. Technologies now operates with the engineering resources and global distribution of one of the world's largest finishing equipment groups while keeping the focused product philosophy that built its reputation.

Today's C.A. Technologies: A Fine Finish System, Gun to Pump

What separates C.A. Technologies from most gun manufacturers is that they engineer the full fluid path - spray gun, pump, tank, and cup - as a matched system rather than independent products. Whether you're running a single gun from a pressure pot or building a complete production line with an air-assisted airless outfit, the CAT approach is to control every variable between the material container and the air cap.

At the center of that system is C.A. Technologies' patented 12-point plenum atomization design used in their fine finish HVLP air caps. Most conventional air caps introduce atomizing air through a small number of ports; the CAT 12-point design distributes air through twelve precisely positioned channels around the fluid stream, breaking it into smaller, more uniform particles. The result, particularly on clears, lacquers, and waterborne topcoats over wood, is a noticeably smoother, more consistent finish film.

The product line covers the full range of spray technologies:

CAT-XPR and CAT-X — CAT's professional-grade pressure feed guns, designed for the finisher who needs one gun to handle everything from thin stains and inks up through epoxies, urethanes, and automotive clear. The CAT-XPR Smart Pack ships with three interchangeable needle/nozzle sets (0.8mm, 1.3mm, 1.8mm) and both HVLP and pressure-reduced air caps and features a thread-less fluid tip design that lets you swap nozzles without tools. Handle-mounted controls allow single-handed adjustments during production runs.
Jaguar and Lynx series — HVLP fine finish guns are purpose-built for wood and cabinet work. The Jaguar SLP is a gravity feed gun with all stainless steel fluid passages and the 12-point patented atomization, producing the near-smoke-fine particle size that cabinet finishers rely on for seamless blends and deep gloss clears. The Lynx line offers the same patented air cap design in configurations that work with small compressors (as low as 2 HP), making CAT accessible to custom shops that don't have industrial air supply.
Cougar and Bobcat air-assisted airless systems — AAA guns and self-contained production outfits for high-throughput wood and industrial finishing. The Cougar AAA gun pairs a 14:1 stainless steel pump with CAT's air cap technology to combine the spray rate of airless with the finish quality of air spray. This is the combination that production cabinet and furniture lines reach for when pure HVLP can't keep up with cycle time.
Panther adhesive gun — a Teflon-coated conventional spray gun engineered specifically for glue and adhesive applications. Stainless steel fluid passages, purpose-built nozzle geometry for high-viscosity materials, and easy cleanup make the Panther the standard for woodworking shops applying contact cement, PVA, and hot-melt adhesives.
Pressure tanks and pumps — coated steel and stainless steel tanks from 2.5 to 15 gallons, piston and diaphragm pump systems, and the Bandit 2-quart pressure cup are all engineered to pair with CAT spray guns for consistent fluid delivery from stir to trigger.
Automatic spray guns — CAT automatic guns for reciprocator and robotic installations, serving production wood lines, industrial OEM coating, and other applications that need the same fine finish atomization quality in an automated format.
